Advantages
of CICS/COBOL and JCMCPG
The JCMCPG Cross-compiler translator allows us to provide a rapid
and repeatable process.
Due to the initial
high cost of computers, the oldest applications of your organization,
are among its most valuable ones. A few thousand lines of CPG can
represent a significant past investment, often with long time users.
CPG is cryptic and obsolete, and support for the underlying CICS
v2.1.2 is being phased out.
In contrast,
the COBOL and Command Level CICS that we generate are structured,
readable, self documenting, and can be directly used for ongoing
maintenance. This COBOL can also be input to automated tools for
Data Definition Extraction, and Business Rule Extraction. COBOL
is available on Mainframes, Unix, and PC Windows environments, and
COBOL is the most portable, and best supported language in all of
these environments. In addition to the Mainframe, powerful CICS
support is currently available on IBM RS/6000 AIX, and on MS Windows
environments.
The JCMCPG
translation service allows you to retain your past investment, and
move forward with State of the Art, current technologies. We can
help you retain valuable working applications in a cost effective
way. In addition, we always provide support to achieve functional
equivalence, and you won't have to train users on unfamiliar interfaces.
